About me!

Hi! I'm forks!

I am a college student currently studying film. I like watching and talking about movies and tv shows, and I will get around to even playing some video games now and then. I've got more on that stuff down in this post.

On the side, I also like making and playing music. I play drums and guitar mostly, but I plan on learning keys/piano eventually. I write some music on the side, and I'm also the drummer in the band Valley in the Sky!! (Listen on spotify its cool). I play bass in another band called 'The MCM Project'. Give us a listen if you dare.

Additionally, I'm officially an (ameteur) ttrpg designer. It's been a dream for a while now, and thanks to a friend who pushed me to enter a quick game jam, I've published something I wrote. It doesn't look very good, as it was written in google docs to adhere with the rules of the jam, but it was really fun, and I'm slowly learning layout design after throwing myself in the deep-end. I've got some other ideas I want to start testing soon too, so be on the lookout for those!!.

My favorite things

This odd little section is just going to detail a short list of my favorite pieces of various media. If you have seen anything or are curious about anything, feel free to reach out. I'm always willing to talk about this stuff.

// Favorite movies

This one actually has two responses. A serious movie and a less serious movie.

My favorite movie by far is Oldboy. I love this movie. I could gush about this movie for hours, and I have had to in school, but all I'll say now is: if you haven't seen it, fix that.

I have loved almost every Wong Jing movie I have ended up watching, not commenting on him as a person, but he is an incredibly talented filmmaker regardless. And of all of his films I have seen, Future Cops is absolutely my favorite. It made me laugh so incredibly hard. I first watched it with a few friends, and I recommend doing the same.

If you like the wacky 80s/90s style comedy/parody movies like Top Secret, then I highly recommend this one. And if you don't know what Top Secret is, I recommend that as well.

// Favorite tv show

Not even a question. FLCL is the answer. I know it's a very basic pick in terms of anime, and I don't care. It was a truly life-changing watch for me. I love it. That is all for this one.

// Favorite album

Snotty's SHORT&QUICK&LOVE is my single favorite album I have ever heard. I will admit that a good part of my love of the album is due to my story with it, but I still love the album regardless.

I found out about this album due to its connection to the band that made my favorite song (below). Both bands had the same guitarist. When I first found out about this band, I looked them up on Apple Music. Nothing. Then Spotify. Nothing. Youtube. Nothing. Eventually, I managed to find an account that posted all of their music on youtube in terrible quality. It took a good bit to find that as well. But regardless, I listened to one song. I then bought the album. In September. After several months, it arrived at my house two days before christmas. I waited to listen to the album until I was in the car with my only other friend who cared. We were driving back from picking up an online friend from the airport and meeting her for the first time. It was a magical experience. The album sounded so much better than the shitty youtube rips. It may be because of the story, or it could be because this is a phenomenal album (it is), but I love it regardless. This is the album that got me in to collecting random obscure cds from bands that aren't on streaming services. It is thanks to this album that I found some really great bands, so it will always have a special place in my heart.

I am also working on an archive of this and some other albums I've found that aren't well preserved.

// Favorite song

Trash by the GING NANG BOYZ. I really have nothing else to say about it other than it is my single, standalone, favorite song I have ever heard. I love it.

Also slight sidenote, this shirt that they used to sell as merch is awesome .

Anyway, that's all for the "About me" page. Maybe more will be added in the future but, if it has, you probably won't be seeing this sentence.
